Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council.

Functions of the Planning Commission

  1. Prepare, review, and revise, as necessary, the general plan.
  2. Implement the general plan through actions including, but not limited to, the administration of specific plans and zoning and subdivision ordinances.
  3. Endeavor to promote public interest in, comment on, and understanding of the general plan and regulations relating to it.
  4. Promote the coordination of local plans and programs with the plans and programs of other public agencies.
  5. Perform other functions as the legislative body provides, including conducting studies and preparing plans other than those required or authorized by this title.

APPOINTMENT TO STANTON PLANNING COMMISSION
VACANCY TO FILL ONE SEAT #6

THE CITY OF STANTON IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS TO FILL 1 VACANCY ON THE STANTON PLANNING COMMISSION. Applicants must be registered voters and live within the city limits. The Planning Commission consists of seven members who meet monthly on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Stanton Council Chambers, 7800 Katella Avenue, Stanton.
The Planning Commission is appointed by the City Council and is responsible for the coordination of planning, orderly growth, efficient land use and environmental protection within the City. The Commission considers all discretionary entitlements and makes recommendations to the City Council on amendments to the City’s General Plan and quazi-judicial land use actions such as zone changes and amendments to the zoning code. The Commission is responsible for the implementation of the general plan through actions including the application of zoning, specific plans and subdivision ordinances as well as the coordination of other local plans and programs with the plans and programs of other public agencies.
In accordance with the Stanton Municipal Code, terms of office for each Commissioner shall coincide with the term of the office of the Councilmember who made the appointment. Currently there is a vacancy in Seat #6 (Warren) on the Stanton Planning Commission for term expiring in November, 2012.
Section 2.06 of the Stanton Municipal Code requires the submission of applications and interviews prior to appointment to any position.
APPOINTMENT IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED TO BE MADE BY THE CITY COUNCIL AT ITS MEETING OF MAY 22, 2012 OR AS SOON THEREAFTER AS POSSIBLE. APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY CLERK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE PRIOR TO NOON ON MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2012.
