Recreation Staff Trains and is Ready for Summer Programming

Jul 05 2017

The Stanton Community Services Department is ready for summer programming after the completion of a comprehensive training program designed to prepare Recreation Leaders for the endless activities and events scheduled for summer.

The annual training program utilized simulated scenarios that focused on situational awareness, communication skills, discipline, teamwork, effective leadership, public relations, mandated reporting and event services to ensure the success and coordination of activities. The second component of the training program offered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification, and also served as a refresher to those currently certified.

The skills learned during the annual summer training program are essential for managing programs such as Camp Stanton, Camp Imagination, Stanton Camp Out and California Gang Reduction, Intervention and Prevention (GRIP) Camp. Camps provide a safe, fun environment where children develop self-esteem and new skills during the weeks they are on school break, making camps an important element to a child’s continued development.
