City of Stanton Unveils New Pocket Park

Jan 16 2018

The City of Stanton is pleased to announce the opening of the pocket park located on the corner of Orangewood Avenue and Beach Boulevard. The park features freestanding, five-foot-high metal letters spelling out “STANTON” as well as three types of grasses, shrubs, and succulents. The park also contains a pathway that connects Beach Boulevard to Stanton Avenue.

“The park project is a small part of ongoing combined public and private efforts to revitalize Beach Boulevard,” says Public Works Director/City Engineer Allan Rigg. “I would like to give special thanks to USS CAL Builders and Environmental Forms for the construction and design of this new park.”

The park is an example of how the City continues to expand its public-private partnerships, which provides an opportunity to build a sense of community and improve the quality of life in Stanton.

The property at the park was purchased by the City in 1965 and was originally used as a pump station to extract groundwater for the City’s water system.
