The California Department of Food and Agriculture recently detected Huanglongbing (HLB), an incurable plant disease, in an orange tree and a mandarin tree in a residential area of Cerritos, which puts Stanton’s backyard citrus trees at risk.

New Development on Beach Blvd

The City of Stanton continues to see new development applications for Beach Blvd.  The latest one, which was approved by the Planning Commission on March 15, 2017, would redevelop half a city block!  Starting at the vacant lot on the northeast corner of Beach Blvd. and Main St., a new 4,100 square foot, two-story retail building will be constructed.

The City of Stanton is proud to announce City’s television station wins first-place award for local television programming excellence!


On the program, City of Stanton’s Administrative Services Director Stephen Parker discussed the city’s current challenges, obstacles and successes regarding various financial matters. “CityWORKS” aired on the city’s government access television station, Stanton TV.

 

Pocket Park on Beach Blvd Approved

Another project was approved for the revitalization of Beach Blvd.! City Council approved the design for the redevelopment of the pocket park at Beach Blvd. and Orangewood Ave. during the Council Meeting held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

The City of Stanton is excited to welcome local students from Magnolia, Western, and Gilbert High Schools to City Hall for its fourth annual Youth in Government Day. The all-day learning event is scheduled for Thursday, March 23, 2017.

“What does a City Clerk do? This question and more will be answered at our upcoming Youth in Government Day. The Stanton City Council created this event to give local students a glimpse into the many career and volunteer opportunities involved in City government,” said Mayor Carol Warren.

Nutriton Classes for Children and Adults 
The Stanton Community Services Center is offering a six-week course designed for children ages 5 to 12 and adults to focus on the importance of nutrition. Participants will gain a firsthand experience in preparing healthy snacks during these lessons. Classes are held on March 23 through April 27, 2017 from 5-6 p.m. at the Stanton Community Services Center, 11822 Santa Paula St. For additional information or to register, please call (714) 379-0129.
